The second National première to be presented this year in the L Concerts happens with a romantic, Romeo Di Lourdes, the new promise of the traditional music of Cape Verde, a young man of many skills, poet, musician, composer, author and social activist.
He was born inside the Cape Verdean island of Santiago, and currently lives in Praia. According to the musician known as the everyday singer Criollo “My music is made to crawl, to touch and make people feel the warm of tradition, love and friendship. I’m not ashamed to use words we use in everyday, because, after all, what identifies us is what we live. I sing the everyday with all my soul, “he says.
The musician is also responsible for a social project in Ponta d`Água district, one of the most problematic in the Island of Praia, known by violence and juvenile delinquency. With the motto “Developing the community through culture”, the project teaches children and young people to play various musical instruments, in order to build families and healthier societies.
In 2016 he made the opening concert of the Kriol Jazz Festival, Romeo performs for the first time outside of Cape Verde in L Concerts in a national première.
