This will be the most electronic concert of this year, but with classic elements. It seems contradictory, but we’re talking about one of the most respected artists in the field of Dubstep, with two original albums praised by the critics worldwide. Émika is a multifaceted artist, with classical training in piano and composition, and is currently composing a Symphony for Orchestra, but the universe of his two albums is electronics, dubstep, trip-hop and pop. His last album was released in 2013.
Emika is also one of Thom Yorke´s favorite artists, and the lead singer of the Radiohead band. He played the track “Drop the Other” in a BBC Show.
Between the Bristol trip-hop and the electronic minimalism of Berlin, Emika has an immersive narrative and heavy bass lines, crossing classical influences with electronics. Emika has been compared with names like Beth Gibbons or Zola Jesus.
Her only presence in Portugal happened in the Vodafone Mexefest festival in 2012. She will present her new album at Estalagem da Ponta do Sol, in what will be a very interesting concert of electronic sounds, with some classical instruments, a mesmerizing voice and many synthesizers.
